OLIVIA THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

The one she catches sight of captures Olivia's attention -

And who, in turn, returns the stares of rapturous fascination.

At first, without coyness, there's neutrality in the gazing,

Till both realise, in their eyes, the other is amazing.

That's when the smiles begin, and their eyes start to dance,

Each responding happily to the other's slightest nuance.

Olivia through the looking glass: a lesson for the learning,

For a woman who believed herself caring and discerning.

But whose reflections make connections, with judgements at the end…

Unlike Olivia through the looking glass,

Smiling,

At her smiling, new best friend.

There are no murky preconceptions to cloud Olivia's notions,

No faltered start of heart made shy, no 'going through the motions';

No experience, no life instruction, to create discrimination,

But innocence, in every sense, gives cause for celebration.

That's how her friendship song is cooed spontaneously,

For the surety of purity exists - unbound, unconsciously.

Olivia through the looking glass: a lesson steeped in awe,

For a woman whose mirror reveals every crack and flaw;

Whose reflection make connections, with judgements at the end…

Unlike Olivia through the looking glass,

Smiling,

At her smiling, new best friend.

Olivia through the looking glass, I wish I was as she,

Olivia through the looking glass, innocence and purity.

Olivia through the looking glass, innocence and purity. (Repeat to fade)
